Kuamut rep urges government to launch 'Ticket Rahmah' amid soaring domestic flight fares

KOTA KINABALU: Kuamut assemblyman Datuk Masiung Banah has called on the Madani Government to introduce a “Ticket Rahmah ” initiative in response to the recent surge in domestic flight fares.

“The increase in fares not only strains national unity but also pushes locals to seek cheaper travel options in neighbouring countries,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Oct 30).

He said that last week, one-way flights between Sabah and the peninsula cost up to RM1,700, while flights to Manila, Jakarta, and Singapore were only between RM550 and RM700.

Masiung, who also serves as the Housing and Urban Development Board chairman, said that the sharp rise in domestic flight prices may lead more Malaysians to vacation abroad, impacting local tourism.
