MetMalaysia issues thunderstorm warning across Malaysia


PETALING JAYA: A warning for thunderstorms has been issued by the Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) for areas across the country, including Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Johor.

The thunderstorms are expected to last until 4pm.

According to an advisory issued at 1.45pm, the areas affected are the entire state of Perlis, Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, and Padang Terap), Perak (Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang, and Muallim), Kelantan (Kuala Krai), Terengganu (Hulu Terengganu, Marang, Dungun, and Kemaman) and Pahang (Jerantut and Maran)

Also affected are Selangor (Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat, and Sepang), Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negri Sembilan (Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, Rembau, and Tampin), Melaka and Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, and Pontian).

Over in Sarawak, the areas affected are Kuching, Samarahan, Betong, Sarikei (Sarikei and Meradong), Mukah (Tanjung Manis, Daro, and Matu), Miri and Limbang.

In Sabah, thunderstorms are also expected inland (Sipitang, Tenom, Beaufort, Nabawan, Keningau, and Tambunan), West Coast, and Sandakan (Tongod, Telupid, Kinabatangan, and Beluran).

Malaysia is currently experiencing the inter-monsoon which lasts until early November.
