MetMalaysia issues thunderstorm warning for nine states until 5pm


KUALA LUMPUR: Nine states across the country are expected to experience thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds until 5pm on Wednesday (Aug 19).

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), said the affected areas in Kedah include Baling, Sik, Kulim, Kuala Muda, Pendang, and Yan, while in Penang, the areas cover Seberang Perai Utara and Seberang Perai Tengah.

Also affected are Perak (Mualim, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang, Perak Tengah, Hilir Perak, and Kuala Kangsar) and Terengganu (Dungun, Marang, Kuala Terengganu, and Kuala Nerus), while in Pahang, the areas are Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Bera, Rompin, Temerloh, and Maran.

In Negeri Sembilan, the affected areas are Seremban, Jempol, Tampin, Kuala Pilah, and Jelebu, whereas in Johor, only Segamat is involved.

Meanwhile, a similar warning is issued for Sarawak, covering Miri (Marudi), Limbang, Mukah, Sibu (Sibu and Selangau), Sarikei (Maradong and Sarikei), and Bintulu (Bintulu and Tatau).

In Sabah, the areas expected to be affected are the Interior Division (Keningau, Tambunan, Membakut, Tenom, Sipitang, and Beaufort), the West Coast, and Kudat (Kota Marudu). - Bernama
