Carnival to highlight importance of broadband, latest technologies

PUTRAJAYA: The Communications Ministry will host the Communications Carnival 2024 at Hutan Bandar Putra in Kulai, Johor this Friday and Saturday to raise public awareness about the importance of broadband and latest technologies.

The ministry said the first series of the carnival, intended to engage local communities with initiatives organised by the ministry and its agencies, will be officiated by Deputy Minister Teo Nie Ching.

"The focus of this carnival will be on people’s development, namely simplifying life, expanding business across various platforms and increasing income.

"It will also focus on empowering careers, enhancing ethics and fostering positive telecommunication expression and social connectivity in line with the current era of globalisation,” it said in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 9).

Among the exciting activities planned for visitors are booths from various telecommunications service providers, digital games and lucky draws.

Other activities include sukan rakyat, a mini concert, music performances and direct services from departments and agencies, such as traffic summons payment counters by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the ‘Jom Exchange Al-Quran’ programme by the Home Ministry and personalised stamp printing by Pos Malaysia.

A total of three carnival series will be held this year in strategic collaboration with TM Technology Services Sdn Bhd.

"This Communications Carnival is a continuation of the Broadband Promotion Plan initiative organised by the ministry since 2015,” the statement read.

The first series of the carnival will also involve departments and agencies under the Communications Ministry, Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, Home Ministry, Finance Ministry, Youth and Sports Ministry, PDRM, the Inland Revenue Board and telecommunication companies such as U Mobile, Celcomdigi, Maxis and YES.
