Salary hike ensures welfare of civil servants, says top cop

KUALA LUMPUR: The government's move to increase the salaries of civil servants showed its commitment to ensuring the welfare of government personnel, especially those from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), says Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

The Inspector-General of Police said the salary hike would help elevate the quality of life of all police personnel and officers, including civilian personnel.

"For me, civil servants are grateful for the special (salary hike) announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim this morning.

"It showed the government's gratitude towards the sacrifice and commitment of civil servants in carrying out their duties," he said when contacted on Friday (Aug 16).

The IGP said he was confident that the good news would motivate every civil servant to provide a better and more efficient service to the public.

"In the same context, civil servants who work hard and perform well will be given a chance for promotion in recognition of their hard work and dedication.

"The promotion will also give them a chance to shoulder bigger responsibilities and to contribute more towards an organisation and the country," he said.

Razarudin, on behalf of the police force, also expressed his gratitude towards the government for the announcement.
