Trio charged with murdering restaurant owner's son in Sandakan


KOTA KINABALU: A 23-year-old man has been charged, together with two others who are still on the run, with murdering the son of a restaurant owner in the Sandakan district.

The suspect, Mohamad Zulfaizzie Hanafie Bin Mohd Firdaus, 23, was charged at the Sandakan Magistrate's Court on Monday (Aug 12)

In a statement on Monday (Aug 12), Sandakan OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Fuad Abdul Malek said no plea was taken and the case was set for re-mention on Sept 10.

Mohamad and the other two were accused of murdering the son of a famous restaurant owner.

On July 26, acting Sandakan OCPD Supt Ramasamy Kuppan said police were hunting for three men over the discovery of a body at a palm oil plantation on Jalan Sungai Memanjang in Sandakan.

The wanted men were identified as Mohd Jasmin Rusman, 24; Mohamad Zulfaizzie Hanafie Mohd Firdaus; and another suspect only known as Komeng, who is in his 20s.

The victim was identified as 35-year-old Naufal Abdul Rashid, who was reported missing on July 21.
