KAPIT: Four wardens and two male students of SMK Song 1 managed to escape unhurt when the school dormitory caught fire here.

A Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department operations centre spokesman said they received a call about the fire at 4.15pm on Sunday (July 21) and a team from the Song Fire and Rescue Station was sent to the location located 2km away.

"When they arrived, the upper floor of the two-storey boys dormitory was on fire. The fire affected an area of measuring 37m x 9.4m.

"Firefighters put out the blaze completely and returned to the station after the situation was brought under control and there were no more sources of fire," the spokesman said in a statement. – Bernama
