Flood victims urged to register for Nadma financial assistance

KOTA KINABALU: Victims of the severe floods are eligible to receive a National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) financial assistance, says an aide to the Sabah Chief Minister.

Datuk Ceaser Mandela Malakun urged those affected by the disaster to register themselves at the temporary flood relief centre at the Sabah Cultural Centre Hall in Penampang near here as soon as possible.

“Every individual who registers is eligible to receive the Nadma financial aid of RM1,000,” said the Principal Private Secretary to the Chief Minister, in a post on his official Facebook wall on Monday (July 1).

“We know the assistance might not be able to compensate for all the losses but we hope it can lessen your burden.

“We sympathise with your situation and hope you will be strong to overcome this obstacle. Together, we will get through this difficult time,” Malakun added.

As of 12pm on Monday, there were 162 people comprising 60 households staying at the temporary flood shelters in Penampang and Putatan.
