Car and bike in flames following accident in PJ


PETALING JAYA: Two vehicles were engulfed in flames following a three-vehicle collision at the junction of Jalan Othman and Jalan Templer here.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Shahrulnizam Ja'afar said a 56-year-old woman had driven her car through a traffic light before accidentally ramming another car and a motorcycle coming from Jalan Templer at about 6.59am on Saturday (May 11).

"The impact of the collision set the woman's car and the motorcycle in flames.

"The 53-year-old motorcycle rider suffered severe injuries and was sent to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for treatment.

"The case is classified under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said in a statement on Saturday.

Asked whether the woman had run a red light, ACP Shahrulnizam said it was still under investigation.

"We urge those who witnessed the accident to come forward to the nearest police station or contact the investigation officer Sjn Saiful Hasan at 011-2194 2572," he added.
