MELAKA: The Police Family Association (Perkep) must continue to serve as a support network for police personnel, particularly by ensuring that the education of their children and the emotional well-being of their families remain priorities, says Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail (pic).
The Inspector-General of Police said Perkep was not merely a welfare organisation, but also served as a bridge that united members of the force through a spirit of love, care and solidarity.
“The continued commitment of Perkep’s leadership in implementing various welfare programmes also helps ease the burden and safeguard the well-being of police personnel’s family members, especially when officers are carrying out duties that demand sacrifices of time, energy and emotions.
“Indeed, the success and resilience of an officer in carrying out their duties do not come about in isolation. Rather, they are driven by the strong support of their families, who constantly pray for them, understand them and serve as the main source of strength behind every step we take,” he said in his speech at the close of the Perkep family day event and Wira Madani Tour programme here yesterday, Bernama reported.
Mohd Khalid said the Wira Madani Tour programme was one of the initiatives based on the Malaysia Madani concept to appreciate the dedication of frontline personnel, as well as strengthen ties between government agencies and the community through welfare and community activities.
He said the programme also fostered patriotism and enhanced public safety awareness, thereby helping to build public confidence in the integrity and professionalism of the security forces.
The Perkep family day event also provided an opportunity for police personnel and their families to spend time together and strengthen their bonds.
He expressed hope that it could continue as a platform to strengthen ties between the PDRM leadership, Perkep members and the wider police family.
