KUALA LUMPUR: LGMS Bhd
, a cybersecurity consulting and services company, has strengthened its board and leadership structure by appointing Dr Paul Lim Pang Kiam as non-independent non-executive chairman and Datuk Dr Michael Lim Joo Soon as independent non-executive director as well as redesignating its founder, Fong Choong Fook, as managing director.
The appointments underscore LGMS’ commitment to strengthening its leadership bench, board depth and governance capabilities as the group continues to scale its cybersecurity and digital trust offerings, the company said in a statement today.
They also reinforce the company’s leadership depth, financial oversight and governance capabilities as LGMS continues to expand its cybersecurity business and pursue regional growth, it said.
Michael, a former Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) deputy director of cybercrime, brings extensive expertise in cybercrime investigation, digital forensics, intelligence and cybersecurity governance.
He served more than 37 years in law enforcement, including as PDRM deputy commissioner, where he led national cybercrime operations, oversaw high-profile investigations involving digital forensics and cross-border threats and strengthened international collaboration in cybercrime intelligence exchange.
His previous roles in PDRM also included assistant director of protective security, where he led protective security initiatives for national infrastructure and VIP personnel, and assistant director of intelligence technical, where he oversaw technical intelligence operations and managed investigations.
Beyond law enforcement, Michael is active in academia and research, with appointments at Enforcement, Leadership and Management University, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Saito University College and International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
He also serves as a research consultant in cybersecurity incident response and cyber leadership involving the University of Melbourne, UKM and IIUM.
Fong said that Michael’s appointment adds valuable operational and governance depth to the group as cyber threats become more complex.
"Michael brings a rare combination of frontline enforcement experience, national-level cybercrime leadership, digital forensic expertise and academic depth in information security,” he said.
"His experience will be valuable to LGMS as we continue to help organisations strengthen cyber resilience,” he further said, noting that cybersecurity today requires organisations to go beyond technical controls by improving investigation readiness, governance, compliance and incident response capabilities.
"Michael’s background in cybercrime investigation, intelligence-led risk management, e-evidence handling and international collaboration will give LGMS an added perspective as we continue to grow our cybersecurity services, digital forensics and incident response capabilities,” he added.
Meanwhile, Paul’s appointment as non-independent non-executive chairman aligns with LGMS’ strengthened leadership structure following the redesignation of Fong, formerly executive chairman, as managing director.
With Fong assuming a more focused executive role to drive strategic growth, business expansion and innovation, Paul’s extensive boardroom, financial, governance and commercial leadership experience is expected to provide added depth and stewardship at the board level, LGMS said.
Paul spent 15 years in the banking sector in various leadership roles before moving into the corporate sector, where he served in senior leadership positions including as finance director, executive director and chief executive officer.
Over the years, he has accumulated extensive experience in corporate strategy, financial management, governance, operational leadership and business transformation across a broad range of businesses and industries. - Bernama
