Stakeholders to take action on casino licence report, says Anwar

SEPANG: There will be a response from stakeholders to the recent Bloomberg report that the government is mulling a second casino in Forest City, Johor, says the Prime Minister.

"Those who are mentioned must take the necessary action. They will (take action)," Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said after the launch of the Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) Academy and groundbreaking ceremony for the Flight Simulator Building here on Friday (April 26).

Anwar had been asked if the government would request a retraction from Bloomberg or proceed with legal action against the New York-based news agency.

On Thursday (April 25), he strongly denied the report which stated that Putrajaya is mulling a second casino licence for Forest City.

The Prime Minister described it as a lie.

Bloomberg had reported earlier on Thursday that Berjaya founder Tan Sri Vincent Tan and Genting Group’s Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay were in early discussions with the government on opening a casino in Forest City.
