HR ministry to lead committee establishing a Gig Workers Commission

PUTRAJAYA: The Human Resources Ministry will lead a committee comprising various ministries and stakeholders to establish a Gig Workers Commission.

In a statement on Monday (March 4), the ministry conveyed its support for establishing a commission to protect gig workers' rights by prioritising social protection, contract disputes and career advancement.

The committee's mandate includes a comprehensive examination of the terms of reference for the Commission, covering functional, legal, financial, and membership aspects.

"An interim report outlining the progress achieved will be presented to the Cabinet within the next three months," it said.
