Two nabbed in Ampang for drink-driving


AMPANG: Two men were detained at a roadblock in Pandan Indah for driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The two, a local and a Pakistani, were detained at the roadblock during an operation codenamed Ops Mabuk held from 9pm till 11pm on Saturday (Feb 10).

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said the duo was held under Section 45A (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

"Both men were brought to Ampang Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division where they underwent breathalyser tests.

"The blood alcohol level of both men surpassed the permitted limit," he said in a statement on Sunday (Feb 11).

ACP Mohd Azam advised the public not to drive or ride while under the influence of alcohol.

"Always adhere to traffic rules and regulations, especially during the festive season," he said.
