Man dies in crash at Kota Tinggi traffic light

KOTA TINGGI: A man died instantly from a four-vehicle accident at KM24 Jalan Sungai Rengit-Kota Tinggi on Thursday (Sept 17).

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Yusof Othman said they received a call on the fatal incident involving four cars from a member of the public at 8.20am.

“A yellow hatchback driven by a 30-year-old local male was coming from behind before crashing into three other cars,’’ he said in a statement.

Supt Yusof said the three cars were waiting at the traffic light junction when the incident happened.

He said the driver of the yellow hatchback suffered from internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Supt Yusof said the 27-year-old driver of a sedan, a 34-year-old driver of a green hatchback, and a 37-year-old driver of an electric vehicle all escaped unhurt.

“The body of the victim has been handed over to the Kota Tinggi Hospital for post-mortem,’’ he said, adding the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
