YANGON: Myanmar's authorities discussed measures to step up efforts to combat drug production and trafficking during an anti-drug meeting, the state-owned daily The Mirror reported Thursday (Sept 17).
The country's Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) held its first meeting of 2026 in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday, with senior government and police officials attending, the report said.
During the meeting, Myanmar's Union Minister for Home Affairs Nyunt Win Swe said the country was facing growing challenges from the drug problem, the report said.
Authorities called for continued anti-drug operations and tighter controls on narcotics, precursor chemicals and related materials, the report said. - Xinhua
