Boy gets his birth cert – 12 years later

A DISABLED boy in Serendah, Selangor, has finally got a birth certificate 12 years after being born, Malaysia Nanban reported.

Raja Maduraiveeran, who was born with a disability, was not able to immediately get a birth certificate for unknown reasons.

His parents subsequently tried to apply for the birth certificate, but were unsuccessful.

They eventually received the help of former Hulu Selangor MP June Leow and were put in touch with the MySel office that handles such cases.

(MySel is a Selangor government initiative to guide applicants to the proper channels.)

MySel officers Shanta Satta and Regupati Raman were able to help the family submit all the necessary documents to the National Registration Department, which finally issued a birth certificate last month.

Subsequently, Raja was able to get his identity card done.
