PORT DICKSON: A couple has been selling “teh O” for just 50 sen a cup as a way to repay donors who had helped them with their daughter’s medical bills when she was suffering from leukaemia.

“We can’t find all our customers who have helped us,” said Yusnira Mukhtar, 42, who operates a stall aptly named “Warung Teh ‘O’ 50 Sen” with her 44-year-old husband Rohaizad Abdul Khalid.

“My husband and I are very grateful to everyone... I think this is the best way to repay the good deeds of all our customers,” she said when met at the stall at Jalan Pantai, Kampung Bagan Pinang near here.

“We sell iced ‘teh ’ or hot ‘teh ’ at 50 sen a cup because we want to repay the good deeds of donors who helped us when our second child Puteri Iris Sofea had leukaemia when she was just two years old,” she told Bernama.

Yusnira and her husband had to quit their jobs to care for Puteri Iris Sofea. They could not have done it had it not been for colleagues, neighbours and customers who chipped in almost RM20,000.

Their daughter, who is now 14, has recovered from her illness.

Besides 50 sen tea, the stall also sells other drinks such as coconut shake and Malay dishes like asam pedas and salai at reasonable prices, Yusnira said.

“On average, over 20 customers order hot ‘teh O’ or iced ‘teh O’ a day.

“The name of our stall, Warung Teh ‘O’ 50 Sen, is another pull factor, with customers coming here to try our dishes,” she said.
