I did not go to Dubai, says Dr Wee

PETALING JAYA: I did not travel to Dubai recently, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong alluding he was not part of the alleged “Dubai Move”.

In a TikTok post on Tuesday (Jan 9), Dr Wee said in jest that he did not travel to Dubai referring to the recent Dubai Move to oust the ruling government.

“Today, we are having a feast with rice dishes from Dubai. I did not go to Dubai, I have never traveled to Dubai previously - only transit there.

“There is no need for us to go to Dubai to try their dishes, we can just get them here,” he said while showing a table full of rice dishes such as mandi and biryani.

On Dec 30, Community Communications Department deputy director-general Datuk Ismail Yusop claimed that the Dubai Move occurred while opposition and government leaders were on holiday in the United Arab Emirates capital.

Several Perikatan Nasional leaders later denied their involvement in the purported plot but Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor claimed that the opposition had already obtained enough statutory declarations (SDs) to form the new government.

Dr Wee also advised the public to be careful as the nation is experiencing the monsoon season which could cause floods.

“What is the next move? The move to take extra caution during the monsoon season, take care of yourselves as we face the floods,” he said.
