Fined for having sex in mosque’s mortuary

MELAKA: A Syariah High Court judge ticked off a couple for having illicit sex in a mosque’s mortuary room before fining them RM5,000 each, in default 18 months’ jail.

Judge Mawardi Che Man described the offence as serious, particularly because it was committed in a room used to prepare bodies for burial.

“You are lucky you did not end up as corpses while committing the act.

“Otherwise, you could have been washed there straight away,” he said before delivering the sentence yesterday.

The 41-year-old former mosque caretaker, a widower with four children, and mosque cleaner, 51, a married mother of eight, pleaded guilty to the charge.
