GUA MUSANG: A total of 474,384 people in Kelantan have enjoyed over RM4.4mil in subsidies provided by the government through the Rahmah Sales Programme implemented by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry since January.

Its Kelantan director Azman Ismail said 679 Rahmah Sales Programmes had been held in 14 parliamentary constituencies focussing on B40 areas, with a total sales value exceeding RM24mil.

"This programme greatly benefits consumers, including residents in rural areas, because they can enjoy discounts of between 10% and 30%.

"In Gua Musang alone, we have conducted 26 series of Rahmah Sales Programme involving RM270,000 in subsidies,” he told reporters after the Gerakan Pengguna Daerah Gua Musang Appreciation Night programme at Taman Ethnobotani here on Monday (Dec 18).

In another development, Azman said a 30% additional quota of essential items had been given to wholesalers throughout the monsoon season.

"So far, we have not received any reports about increases in the price of goods from consumers and supply remains under control during the monsoon season.

"We conducted an integrated operation with 14 agencies across the state from Dec 12 to 14 and found no increase in prices. Only a few arrests were made over leakages of subsidised items such as diesel,” he said.

Azman said the ministry also seized assets worth RM1.5mil through Ops Tiris, which was conducted from March 1 to Sunday (Dec 17). – Bernama
