Mitra to boost programmes that strengthen knowledge, skills, says Ramanan

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra) is looking to boost programmes which strengthen knowledge and job skills, among others, said its Special Committee chairman Datuk R. Ramanan (pic).

Ramanan, who is also Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, said he would advocate for such programmes like the just-concluded 'Serambi Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2023’ seminar, to be held more often nationwide.

"Of course, we're looking forward to doing programmes like this nationwide... at the moment Mitra is (also) working on a lot of plans and initiatives to come in the years ahead of us.

"There will be some changes... let's wait and see what happens, but in the meantime, I'll definitely advocate for more programmes like Serambi SPM 2023 to be held nationwide," he said.

He told reporters this after officiating the closing ceremony of the seminar organised by MAHSA University and sponsored by Mitra here on Sunday (Dec 17).

Around 800 students from 30 schools in Selangor participated in the seminar to hone their knowledge in Bahasa Melayu, History and Mathematics.

The seminar was conducted by Mahsa University Adjunct Professor Datuk P. Eswaran.

M. Harshini, 17, a student from SMK Perempuan Raja Zarina, said the seminar has given her a better understanding of the three subjects.

"I had a lot of fun learning through this seminar... what are otherwise subjects which require a lot of time and patience to grasp became interesting in ways I never expected," she said when met after the seminar.

R. Shanusia Barathi, 17, expressed her gratitude towards Mahsa and Mitra for organising such seminars as they benefited students in need.

"I hope more seminars like Serambi SPM 2023 are held more often in the future, as it will boost morale and motivate fellow SPM candidates even further," said the SMK Convent Bukit Nanas student. - Bernama
