Cops seize 50 motorcycles in Penang during three-hour roadblock


GEORGE TOWN: A total of 50 motorcycles were seized by police during a three-hour roadblock operation in Bayan Lepas here on Sunday (Nov 26).

"The roadblock on Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway in Bayan Lepas started at 2am and ran until 5am," said southwest district police chief Supt Kamarul Rizal Jenal in a statement.

He said that 50 motorcycles were seized under Section 61(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and that a motorcycle is being investigated under Section 108 of the same Act for having a false registration number.

The joint operation between police and Road Transport Department (JPJ) saw the involvement of 20 policemen and 15 JPJ officers.
