PETALING JAYA: Burning issues, including the disloyalty of its four MPs, will be raised by youth wing members of Bersatu at their annual general assembly set to begin today.
Bersatu Youth (Armada) chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal (pic) said the seven-year-old party has come far and it was high time that youth members took their roles seriously as future leaders.
“This party was founded on democracy and there is no denying that Armada is a notable player,” said the Machang MP while stressing that Armada members are not rabble rousers. “Should there be something to be voiced out, we will continue to do so politely but firmly as mature politicians.”He said Armada will raise the issue of the four MPs – namely those of Labuan, Kuala Kangsar, Jeli and Gua Musang – in the AGM. He also said Bersatu came into power along with the rise of the Undi18 and first-time voters.
“Armada will have to catch up with the evolving nature of youths’ politics. They are much more mature with high expectations as they have direct access to information on issues such as climate change, public health, economic equality and race- and religion-based issues.“These are the rational voices in shaping the discourse of Malaysian politics. Armada wants to project both the Malay nationalist side of Bersatu and progressive politics,” said Wan Ahmad Fayhsal.
Bersatu’s AGM will kick off with the assembly of its wings today and end on Nov 25 at the IDCC Convention Centre in Shah Alam.
