Direction of PAS support for Bersatu, Johor State Election to be determined on Monday, says Takiyuddin

KOTA BARU: PAS Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan confirmed that the party will decide on its support for Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) and the upcoming Johor State Election this Monday (June 29).

He stated that the decision will be made during a special Central PAS meeting scheduled to begin at 5pm, reported Sinar Harian.

"So far, PAS has adhered to the statement made by the President previously. This Monday, the Central PAS will convene to make decisions on various matters. As of now, no decision has been reached," he said during a press conference on Saturday night (June 27).

Takiyuddin spoke to reporters while attending the Kota Baru PAS Annual General Meeting, which was officiated by Jerantut Member of Parliament Khiril Nizam Khirudin.

He also mentioned that the meeting will discuss political cooperation involving PAS and other parties in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.

Regarding the use of the Perikatan logo in the Johor state election, Takiyuddin explained that the issue has been resolved. He noted that the nomination process for the Johor state election was completed on Saturday.

"There is no question of changing to another logo. As of yesterday, 16 candidates from Bersatu, 11 from PAS, and five from Gerakan are all using the PN logo. How can you change it now? The candidates are already in the race. That's the logo that PN allows its component parties to use," he said.

Additionally, he expressed his belief that all parties contesting in the election have a fair opportunity, as the Johor State Election involve experienced parties that have participated in previous elections, including the 15th General Election and the 2022 PRN.

"I think all parties have equal chances. We will see how it unfolds," he concluded.
