Rulers saddened by global failure to resolve Palestine-Israel conflict

PETALING JAYA: The Conference of Rulers is saddened by the inability of the international community and global superpowers to arrive at a consensus over a solution to the ongoing Palestine-Israel crisis, says Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal Tan Sri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad.

He said the Conference of Rulers had discussed the conflict that began on Oct 7 and added that the Malay Rulers condemned all forms of violence perpetrated by Israeli forces against Palestinians, especially the deaths of women and children.

“The Malay Rulers are sad and concerned over ongoing developments whereby the international community and global superpowers have yet to reach a consensus in arriving at a solution to end the conflict.

“Therefore, the Malay Rulers urge the Malaysian government to continue speaking out for Palestinians and protest the oppression and cruelty of the Zionist regime at the international stage, for humanitarian and religious responsibilities,” Syed Danial said in a statement on Tuesday (Oct 24).

Syed Danial said the Malay Rulers are firmly backing Putrajaya’s stance that Palestinians must be granted absolute freedom from the illegal Israeli occupation, their seized land must be returned, and they are given the right to form an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as the capital and the Al-Aqsa Mosque to remain as a Muslim place of worship.

“The Malay Rulers also urged Putrajaya to continue taking the initiative and proactive steps at the international stage to find a solution to the conflict,” he added.

Syed Danial also said the Malay Rulers called upon all Malaysians to continue standing in solidarity with the Palestinians and to extend any form of humanitarian aid to ease their burden.

“The Malay Rulers called on all Malaysians, regardless of race and religion, to pray together in their respective beliefs for the protection of Palestinians, the immediate end to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and to free their land from Zionist colonisation and oppression.

“The Malay Rulers also called on mosques and surau across the country, as well as Muslims at their respective homes, to continue sunat hajat and doa selamat prayers to Allah SWT to protect the Palestinians,” said Syed Danial.

On Oct 7, during the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah, Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise attack from Gaza, which saw a barrage of rockets being fired towards Israel and armed individuals breaching security barriers.

In response, Israel retaliated with airstrikes and military operations later that night, which carried on till today.

As of Tuesday, more than 5,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s attacks, and Gaza’s Health Ministry has said that about 40% of the victims were children.

Meanwhile, the death toll in Israel stood at 1,405 as of Tuesday.

International reports have also stated that tens of thousands of Israeli troops have gathered along Gaza’s borders in preparation for a looming ground invasion.

Hundreds of thousands of Palestinian civilians are still trapped within the 360sq km Gaza, which is said to be one of the most densely populated areas in the world.
