Alor Setar City Council stops issuing new licence for massage parlours

ALOR SETAR: Alor Setar City Council (MBAS) says it has stopped issuing new licences for massage parlours in Alor Setar.

In a Facebook post, both the Alor Setar City Council (MBAS) and Alor Setar Land and District Office said they would not issue new licences for massage parlours effective immediately.

MBAS also attached a notice in the post stating that the decision was made based on the state executive councillor meeting on June 21.

In June, Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said the state government would take stern action against reflexology centres and massage parlours, including shutting down their operations if they violate the licensing conditions.

He had said that all activities with entertainment elements in the state, including at institutions of higher learning, come under Entertainment Control Enactment and need a licence from the local authorities.
