KUALA LUMPUR: The recording of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's statement by police has been postponed by a day to Tuesday (Sept 12).

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the Perikatan Nasional chairman had made the request.

"He had to tend to some urgent matters, so he asked for the postponement," he said on Thursday (Sept 7).

It was reported earlier that Bukit Aman would record Muhyiddin's statement on Monday (Sept 11) in connection with an investigation into a recent ceramah by the former prime minister.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said Bukit Aman CID's Special Investigation Unit had already contacted Muhyiddin.

So far, two police reports have been lodged over the issue.

Muhyiddin had allegedly spoken in a recent speech of a "fatwa" which prohibits voting for Pakatan Harapan's Pulai parliamentary candidate Suhaizan Kayat.
