Pulai polls: Police approve 226 permits for ceramah, campaigning


JOHOR BARU: Police here have approved a total of 226 permits for ceramah and campaigning as of the seventh day of the campaign period for the Pulai and Simpang Jeram by-elections.

Johor police by-election spokesman Supt Ibrahim Mat Som said the authority had approved 46 permits on Saturday (Sept 2) in the two elections.

“From Aug 26 until Sept 2, we have approved 226 permits from the 235 applications that we received,” said Supt Ibrahim.

“On Saturday, we approved 10 permits for ceramah and 21 permits for campaigning in Pulai and 14 permits for ceramah and one permit for campaigning in Simpang Jeram,” he added in a statement here on Sunday (Sept 3).

All political parties are also urged to ensure that their banners and campaign materials do not hinder any road signs, traffic lights, private premises, or prohibited roads, he said.

Supt Ibrahim added that those with concerns about any issues are urged to contact the nearest police station for help.
