15-year-old girl riding motorcycle dies in Mersing crash


MERSING: A 15-year-old girl died after the motorcycle she was on crashed into a car on Jalan Penyabong in Belukar Juling here.

Mersing OCPD Supt Abdul Razak Abdullah Sani said that the victim was riding a motorcycle with her 15-year-old female friend from Penyabong at 2am on Sunday (Aug 6).

"Our investigation revealed that the victim tried to overtake a car. However, the victim lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into the car," he said in a statement on Monday (Aug 7).

The crash caused the rider to suffer serious injuries to her body and legs, while the pillion rider suffered serious injuries to her legs, he added.

"The rider was pronounced dead at the Mersing Hospital," he said, adding that the car driver was unharmed.

"We would like to remind the public to always adhere to road laws and regulations and be mindful of other road users," he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road and Transport Act of 1987.
