State polls: It was the party’s decision, says Azmin on Hulu Kelang

GOMBAK: It was a Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia decision, says Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said on him contesting the Hulu Kelang seat in Selangor.

“I am a party man. So the party has decided. The president (Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin) is here. They want me to participate," said Azmin.

"As a party man I have to support the decision of the party,” he added when speaking to reporters after submitting his nomination at the SMK Sungai Pusu, Gombak, Selangor.

Asked if he was ready for the elections, the Selangor Perikatan Nasional chief said he was more than 100% ready.

Azmin will be making his bid in familiar ground after 24 years by contesting in Hulu Kelang, where he made his election debut in 1999.

The former international trade and industry minister will be taking on Juwairiya Zulkifli in Hulu Kelang.

Juwairiya was the political secretary of his former protege, caretaker Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

All candidates for the Hulu Kelang, Gombak Setia and Sungai Tua seats will file their nominations at SMK Sungai Pusu in Gombak.

Nominations closed at 10 am.
