BANTING: The Selangor state assembly seats of Sijangkang and Morib will see straight fights between the candidates.

Selangor PAS commissioner Dr Ahmad Yunos Hairi filed his nomination papers at the Kuala Langat Industrial Training Institute here.

He was nominated by Shaiful Amri Mohamed Shaping and seconded by Hairulizam Saliban for the Sijangkang seat for which he is the incumbent.

Also contesting the state seat is the unity government's candidate Mohd Al-Hafizi Abu Bakar who is from Barisan Nasional.

He was proposed by Mohammad Asrin Ishak and seconded by Haridass Ramasamy.

Earlier in the morning, Dr Ahmad Yunos arrived at the venue accompanied by an entourage made up of Perikatan Nasional member parties PAS, Bersatu and Gerakan members.

Mohd Al-Hafizi arrived with his own entourage composed of Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional supporters.

Three-term Sijangkang assemblyman Dr Ahmad Yunos won the seat with a 1,677 majority in the 2018 general election.

As for Mohd Al-Hafizi, this is his first foray to try his chance at becoming an elected representative.

In the 2018 general election, Dr Ahmad Yunos managed to retain the seat with a hairline majority of 1,677 votes.

Filing his nomination papers at the same venue was Pakatan Harapan's Morib incumbent assemblyman Hasnul Baharuddin who is from PAS.

He was proposed by Yahaya Mustapha and seconded by Periasamy Raman.

The two-term Morib assemblyman faces Perikatan's Rosnizan Ahmad.

Muhammad Ariffin Tarmuji and Mohamad Hamdan Sapar proposed and seconded Rosnizan respectively.

Hasnul won the Morib seat in 2018 with a 2,117 majority.
