Pakatan fears voter fatigue

PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan views voter fatigue as a major concern due to the decoupling of the state and federal polls, but Perikatan Nasional has downplayed it.

Pakatan information chief Fahmi Fadzil said voter fatigue is a real issue.

“To those thinking of not coming out to vote, I ask that they reconsider, as their vote is really to take a stand with regard to what they believe in,” he said in a recent interview.

On how Pakatan intends to overcome the problem, Fahmi said a lot has to do with the machinery at the grassroots level.

“We have to convince voters that the unity government at the federal level should also be in power at the state level to better coordinate and serve the rakyat much more efficiently,” he said.

Meanwhile, Perikatan information chief Datuk Seri Azmin Ali differed in his view, saying he did not foresee any voter fatigue due to the separation of the polls, particularly in Selangor.

“What voter fatigue? Selangorians are ready to go out to cast their ballots, this time in favour of Perikatan,” he declared in a short message.
