More 1MDB-related arrests possible after Jasmine Loo, says IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: Now that former 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) lawyer Jasmine Loo Ai Swan is in custody, Bukit Aman says more arrests are possible.

Loo was arrested last Friday (July 7) when she surrendered herself at the Dang Wangi police headquarters in the presence of her lawyer.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said they had never halted their investigations into the issue.

"Rest assured, other suspects still at large – including fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho @ Jho Low – remain on the police's radar.

"We cannot reveal if we know the location of the suspects still at large as it could jeopardise our investigations and tactics," he told reporters at Bukit Aman on Thursday (July 13).

In May, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) revealed that Jho Low was hiding in Macau.

In 2020, then-IGP Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador also revealed that several individuals including Jho Low were hiding in China.

Among them were former SRC International chief executive officer Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil who was believed to be in Hong Kong while Loo was believed to be hiding in Shenzhen, China.
