Seven-year-old girl dies as car crashes into lorry in KK


KOTA KINABALU: A Year One schoolgirl died after the car she was in with two other family members crashed into a lorry on Jalan Lintas here.

The seven-year-old victim died on the spot while the 59-year-old female driver and another passenger, a 15-year-old boy, suffered minor injuries in the 5.30am accident on Monday (June 19).

A Fire and Rescue Services Department spokesman said they received a distress call at 5.41am and rushed to the scene.

The three victims were stuck in the vehicle and had to be aided out by firemen.

"Two of them were given first aid by health personnel at the scene," said the spokesman.

He said the girl, who was sitting in the back, was declared dead at the scene by a medical officer.

The 39-year-old lorry driver was not injured.

Police are now investigating the incident.
