Cop in hot water over scuffle, drink driving

KUALA LUMPUR: An enforcement officer landed himself in hot water after fighting with a policeman when stopped for suspected drink driving.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Zam Halim Jamaluddin confirmed the matter in a statement on Saturday (June 17).

"On June 15, at around 4.10am, a police team from the Cheras police district headquarters noticed a silver car being driven against traffic.

"A chase ensued and the car was stopped near a traffic light at an intersection heading towards Flat Sri Sabah.

"Checks showed that the car was being driven by a 35-year-old public servant and that he was intoxicated. He then showed lewd signs to the policeman during the inspection," ACP Zam Halim said.

The suspect refused to cooperate and a scuffle ensued, leading to his arrest.

It is learnt that the suspect is a police officer himself.

"Investigations are ongoing and as of now, the suspect has been released on police bail," ACP Zam Halim said.
