Man found dead in monsoon drain in Bahau

BAHAU: A 45-year-old man has been found dead in a monsoon drain in Taman Cempaka near here.

Jempol OCPD Supt Hoo Chang Hook said police received a call about the body found in a monsoon drain in front of a minimarket at around 7.15am on Wednesday (May 31).

Police who arrived at the scene found a man hanging by his neck from a railing next to the monsoon drain.

He said the victim was from Taman Awana Indah near here and no other injuries were found on the body.

Supt Hoo said a sling bag was found on the deceased, which contained a small bottle believed to contain methadone.

He said the deceased's motorcycle was parked nearby and a note written in Mandarin was in the carrier basket.

"We also spoke to a motorcycle shop owner who said the deceased, whom he knew personally, had parked his bike in front of his shop," he said.

Supt Hoo added that the deceased did not have a criminal record.

He said a post-mortem examination conducted showed that his death was due to hanging.
