Braking bad: Three nabbed in Bercham car park with 10.4kg of meth

IPOH: Three men were arrested by police in the parking lot of a hypermarket in Bercham near here after 10.4kg of methamphetamine was found in one suspect’s car.

Perak police chief Datuk Seri Comm Mohd Yusri Hassan said the three, aged 40, 58 and 61 years old, were nabbed at 2.20pm on Monday (April 17).

He said a gunny sack with 10 transparent plastic packets believed to be methamphetamine worth about RM400,000 was found in the car belonging to the 58-year-old.

“The drugs seized were meant for local distribution and could be used by 20,000 drug addicts.

“The 58-year-old suspect also tested positive for methamphetamine.

“The drugs are believed to have been supplied by a foreigner from the northern part of the country,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (April 18).

Comm Mohd Yusri said the car and RM2,200 cash were also seized in the operation.

He said the case is being investigated under Sections 39B and 15(1) (A) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and the suspects have been remanded for further investigations.

“I urge the public to continue providing information on any criminal activities to the police so that action can be taken.

"Anyone with such information can contact the Perak police contingent headquarters control centre at 05-2401999," he added.
