Charging Muhyiddin a sad moment for Malaysia, says Peja

KUALA LUMPUR: The charging of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in court on Friday (March 10) is a sorrowful occasion for the country, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu (pic).

The Bersatu deputy president said this was because a leader who had made great sacrifices had been shamed and charged in court for irrational reasons.

Ahmad Faizal was at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court with a group of Bersatu supporters to show support for Muhyiddin, the party president and Perikatan Nasional chairman.

"We hope that the court officers and prosecutors will fulfil their duties for the sake of the people and God.

"If even a statesman can be treated in this manner, what would the fate of the rakyat be like?" he asked.

Ahmad Faisal also said he believed that justice and truth would prevail.

Perikatan supporters, mostly from Perak, were seen wearing "Kami bersama Abah" (We are with Abah) T-shirts while chanting words of support at the entrance to the Kuala Lumpur court complex after Muhyiddin's arrival.

They said Muhyiddin's charges were made with malicious intent and amounted to political "cruelty" towards the Opposition party.
