MACC confirms Muhyiddin's arrest, says will face a number of charges on March 10


PUTRAJAYA: Former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will face a number of charges at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex on Friday (March 10).

In a statement the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission said Muhyiddin, who was also the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president, will be charged under Section 23 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 and Section 4(1)b of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorist Financing and Proceeds of Illegal Activities Act (AMLATFPUAA) 2001.

"The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) confirms that it has detained the former Prime Minister at 1pm at the MACC Putrajaya Headquarters after he appeared to be interviewed to complete the final investigation process regarding the Jana Wibawa project and related issues.

"Accordingly, the MACC has also received permission to prosecute from the Attorney General's Office to charge Muhyiddin at the Kuala Lumpur Court on March 10," it said.
