PUTRAJAYA: Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin hopes former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will not be kept overnight at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters.

He said it was up to the MACC and depended on how the situation unfolded.

"We have been praying that he is not going to be here until tomorrow morning.

"We hope he will be released soon, maybe this afternoon," he told reporters outside MACC headquarters here on Thursday (March 9).

Hamzah said he believed Muhyiddin was just being questioned because of political persecution because the Bersatu president and Perikatan Nasional chairman had done nothing wrong.

"Based on our discussions previously, he told us what happened.

"He is very confident that he is not wrong," he said, adding that Bersatu and Perikatan members had gathered outside the MACC headquarters on Thursday in a show of support for "Abah" and not as a means to pressure anyone.
