Covid-19 Watch: 217 new cases, says Health Ministry


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 217 new Covid-19 infections on Wednesday (March 1), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its KKMNow portal on Thursday (March 2) that this brings the new total to 5,043,008 cases since the pandemic began.

All of the 217 cases are local.

The ministry also said through its KKMNow portal that there were 233 recoveries on Wednesday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 9, 230.

Of the active cases, 96.2% or 8,882 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 3.7% of active cases or 341 individuals need to be hospitalised, with seven warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Out of the seven, four require ventilator support.
