Two factory workers killed in road accident in Melaka


MELAKA: Two female factory workers were killed after their car skidded along the Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah-Jasin Highway (AMJ) near Kandang here while on their way home after completing their night shifts.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit identified the victims as Noor Izwani Ali Mohd Nor, 35, from Jalan Pasir Gembor 2, Kampung Sempang, Merlimau, here and passenger Nur Aisah Djaapar, 34, from Jalan Masjid Serkam Darat also from Merlimau.

He said both the victims had succumbed to severe injuries on the spot during the 8.05am accident on Monday (Feb 13) that also involved two other vehicles.

ACP Christopher Patit said the car driven by Noor Izwani was believed to have lost control and landed on the other side of the highway.

He said a medical assistant identified as Saifiudin Jasmi, 30, who was riding a motorcycle to his workplace at Melaka Hospital on the opposite side of the highway, fractured his right leg when he collided with the skidded car.

ACP Christopher Patit said a 43-year-old driver of another car who works for the Melaka police contingent headquarters sustained minor injuries after colliding with the skidded vehicle.

He added the accident is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
