GOF seizes RM400,000 worth of ganja in Pasir Mas, two nabbed

KOTA BARU: The General Operations Force (GOF) has arrested two men, including a foreigner and seized 5kg of cannabis worth RM400,000 in Serongga, Pasir Mas.

GOF Southeast Brigade Commander SAC Ahmad Radzi Hussain said in the 10.30am incident on Saturday (April 18), a team from the Serongga Interception Checkpoint flagged down a grey car driven by a local man with a Sri Lankan passenger.

"Initial checks revealed that the Sri Lankan national's social visit pass had expired. Both suspects were then taken to the Taman Bakti tactical base with the assistance of the Company A strike force from the GOF 9th Battalion for further examination," he said in a statement on Saturday.

He said a thorough search of the vehicle's rear uncovered a black bag containing five compressed bundles suspected to be cannabis buds, weighing about 5kg.

He said preliminary investigations indicated that the market value for the substance could reach up to RM80,000 per kilogram.

"The suspects, in their 20s and 50s, have been detained. The seized items were handed over to the relevant authorities for action under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952," he said. – Bernama
