Covid-19 Watch: 175 new infections bring total to 5,038,170


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 175 new Covid-19 infections on Monday (Feb 6), bringing the total number of cases in the country to 5,038,170 since the pandemic began.

The Health Ministry's KKMNow portal reported that 174 of Monday's new infections were locally transmitted while there was one imported case.

The portal also reported that 196 individuals recovered from Covid-19 infections on Monday, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 4,991,173 since the pandemic began.

It also said that as at 11.59pm on Monday, there were 10,053 active Covid-19 infections in the country, with 9,659 individuals, or 96.1% of active cases observing home quarantine.

A total of 388 individuals, or 3.9% of active cases, are being treated in hospitals nationwide, while six patients were warded in intensive care units (ICU).

Of those in ICU, one is unventilated while five require ventilator support.

KKMNow also reported that as at 11.59pm on Monday, Malaysia's overall hospital bed utilisation rate stood at 72.8% while the ICU utilisation rate was at 66.5%.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry's GitHub data repository reported that there was one death due to Covid-19 were reported on Monday.

The total number of fatalities due to Covid-19 in Malaysia remains at 36,944 since the pandemic began.
