Bosses told to make fresh applications

PETALING JAYA: Employers who had applied for foreign workers before yesterday will have to resubmit their applications following the recent quota relaxation and loosening of requirements for foreign workers, says Human Resources Minister V. Sivakumar.

This applies to employers who had made applications through the FWe Approval Module and eQuota Module under the Foreign Worker Centralised Management System (FWCMS).

“The new applications in the FWe Module will allow applications by employers to be considered under the Foreign Workers Relaxation Plan,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He said the recently announced plan would only apply to five sectors and subsectors, namely manufacturing, construction, plantation, agriculture and services (restaurants only).

“Employers under these five sectors and subsectors can submit their applications for foreign workers under the FWe Approval Module immediately.

“The ministry will process and give approvals for applications for foreign workers in three working days from the date of each application,” Sivakumar said.

He added that there was no longer a need for the employers concerned to place vacancy advertisements under the MyFutureJobs portal.

The approval from the Human Resources Ministry will allow employers to proceed with the process of bringing in the foreign workers who will hold a Temporary Employment Visit Pass (PLKS).Sivakumar’s statement came in the wake of the announcement by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail last Tuesday on policy changes for speedier recruitment of foreign workers and simplified application procedures.

Industry players and the affected sectors welcomed the announcement, saying that the relaxation of quotas and loosening of the application process showed the government’s commitment to supporting the business community and industries.
