Woman, 78, to spend first CNY with family as a Malaysian after getting citizenship


A happy Ker Geok Lan, 78, will finally be able to celebrate Chinese New Year with her family as a Malaysian after getting her citizenship approval letter on Jan 9. She was accompanied by her son Yen Chor Sin, 52, to the presentation ceremony at the National Registration Department in Putrajaya.

PUTRAJAYA: It will be a special Chinese New Year for 78-year-old Ker Geok Lan, who will be celebrating the festivities as a Malaysian for the first time.

This is because Ker will be able to own a blue MyKad after finally getting her citizenship approval letter following a six-year wait.
