Man found dead outside house in Chemor was murdered, say cops

IPOH: The man who was found dead in front of his house at Taman Klebang Putra, Chemor on Friday (Dec 30) night was murdered, says Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.

The Perak police chief said a post-mortem conducted on the 37-year-old victim's body at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital on Saturday (Dec 31) found multiple blunt object injuries.

"The case has been classified as murder and would be investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code," he said in a statement.

The victim was found lying on the ground in front of his house in Taman Klebang Putra, Chemor, near here on Friday at about 11.30pm.

Police had initially believed that the victim had died after being hit by a motorcycle, which witnesses saw fleeing the scene.

Comm Mohd Yusri said the police has arrested a 27-year-old man in Chemor and believed they have solved the case.

"With the arrest of the man believed to be responsible for the victim's death, the police believed they have solved the case within 17 hours after a report was lodged.

"The police will obtain a remand order from the Magistrate's Court on Sunday (Jan 1) for the man to facilitate the investigation," he said.

"The police are also looking for another accomplice who is still on the loose.

"We will complete the investigation papers and submit them to the deputy public prosecutor's office for proposed charges," he added.
