KUALA KRAI: A married couple has been arrested with over RM9mil in syabu in Kampung Batu Jong.

Kelantan police chief Comm Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the arrest was made by a patrol unit that stopped the couple on Friday morning.

“The police stopped their vehicle after noticing it was being driven in a suspicious manner. During inspections, the police found 11 sacks that each contained 24 packages wrapped in aluminium and labelled ‘Guanyingwang’, which we suspect to be syabu,” he said.

In total, 264kg of drugs were seized with an estimated value of RM9,504,000. It is believed the drugs were intended for the Klang Valley market.

The male suspect was believed to have been paid RM5,000 per trip to transport the drugs before leaving the car at a designated location. The car would then be used by another suspect.

“The couple has no prior criminal records. They have been remanded for seven days, starting today until Dec 9 to assist investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952,” Comm Muhamad Zaki said yesterday. — Bernama
