BENTONG: Barisan Nasional's candidate for the Bilut state seat is offering a three-pillared manifesto for the people for GE15.
Wong Siew Mun, who is from MCA, said she would push for flood mitigation plans in Bilut; stimulate the local economy to create more jobs; and to empower the youth.
Wong, 32, said as a young leader, would not leave youth out and plans to set up a youth community centre operated by young leaders.
"The Bilut state assembly office will support and use Federal Government allocations to develop and nurture talent," said Wong.
She said she also wanted to help youth apply for affordable houses, encourage youth involvement in modern agriculture and bring in experts to introduce strategic cooperation in current technology with foreign experts.
On floods, Wong said she would work with the Bentong MP's office to install Internet-connected CCTVs at rivers, which will allow residents to monitor river conditions in real time using their mobile phones.
Among her plans to promote the local economy were to promote Bentong tourism, attract more business opportunities to Bilut, and to increase the salaries and welfare of locals so more young people remain in Bentong.
"We want more youth to come back to Bentong to work.
"I am also a young person so I understand their needs," she said.
Wong also said that the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project would benefit the people and bring economic spin-off for Bentong's transport and tourism sectors.
Wong is facing Lee Chin Chen from Pakatan Harapan, Datuk Sri Chandra A/L Balabedha from Perikatan Nasional and Mohd Shokri Bin Kadir from Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA).
